Looking For Live In Jobs? Why Not Be a Nanny?
If you are keen on getting yourself live in jobs, the job of a nanny can be a good option. Unlike all other regular jobs which are based on putting in 40 hours of labor, the job of a nanny involves putting in 60 hours of work every week. Of course this is a full time nanny job and you can expect a salary also commensurate with the hours of work per week. However as part of your search for live in jobs, it is also important to remember to know the exact number of working hours that is expected of you, before you sign any contract with your potential employer.
Even though many of us may be keen to take up a full time nanny job, we may not be fully aware of what the job entails. That is, what we are supposed to do and what jobs do not fall under our purview. Here are some points related to the job profile of a nanny:
• The primary and most often the only job of a nanny is to take care of children.
• Though it is categorized under live in jobs, a nanny does not take care of the elderly; make their beds, clean toilets, etc.
• If you work beyond the scheduled 40 hours a week, such work is clubbed under ‘overtime’ and you would get paid extra.
• Though some nannies put in extra work, but it is not mandatory for you to conform to this exception rather than the rule.
• The maximum number of hours for a live in nanny is 5 to 12 hour days or 60 hours of work to be put in five days of the week. In case you work for the sixth day, the hours are excluded from this 60 hour schedule.
• However, a live-out nanny usually puts in not more than 50 hours of work per week which may also go down.
